Cloth Diaper
Styles
There are
a few basic styles that cloth diapers come in.
Prefolds, Fitted, and
All-In-One (AIO).
|
Prefolds
are the flat diapers you'll find in Wal*Mart, just like our mothers
used. |
Pros:
The
cheapest way to cloth diaper
Very absorbent
Double as great burp cloths
Dry quickly |
Cons:
Needs
to be secured with pins, snappis or a cover
Can be bulky
|
|
Summary
Prefolds are a great way to enjoy the benefits of cloth, but the
easily-accessible brands at stores have disappointed many an aspiring
cloth diapering momma. With a Diaper Service Quality (DSQ) Chinese
prefolds available through many places online, you can't go wrong! |

Fitted
Diapers
fit
much like a disposable, with elastic around Baby's legs and back. |
|
Pros:
Convenient
Only require a cover
Dry relatively quickly
Most customized fit
Beyond-cute prints available |
Cons:
You
may become a cloth diaper addict
and spend a ton of money if you're not careful |
|
Summary
Secured with aplix or nylon or metal snaps, fitted diapers give
you the best of both worlds. Money can be saved buying them used,
or getting the kind that "grow" with Baby if you can
afford the extra up-front cost for those. An all-around good investment! |

All-In-One
Diapers
AIO's
are fitted diapers with a waterproof layer. |
| Pros:
Convenient! |
Cons:
Dry
very slowly
Can't wash as thoroughly
Expensive |
|
Summary
AIO's are a great way to enjoy the convenience of disposables
without sacrificing the integrity of Baby's bottom. It is nice
to have a few on hand for dad or a babysitter while you and your
husband are out on date night. |
