Ladies If you are interested in being a labor support go-to for others on the list.

Post a reply with your name and your past UC experiences, so that women can get in touch with you PM or cuc-email if they have questions about things you have experienced.

Please do not put phone numbers or email addresses directly here since this board is looked at by all types.

Thank you Nicole

I'm game!

My 1st daughter was a planned birth center turned c/s for a heart condition that I had to fight for.

My 2nd daughter was a UP/UC at 44 weeks, long labor, water intact to crowning when i broke it, 8lbs, no tearing.

Planning 2nd UC (2nd UP, too) in the fall.

Feel free to PM me or email me through my profile!

Great idea Nic and Bree!

Raechel

This is my second UP/UC. My labours are short and intense.. 4 hours.

I laboured in the water but moved to land because I thought I was going to go take a nap.. HA HA HA.. I gave birth as soon as I got to the bed. I'm a quick dialator 4 to 10 in minutes.

Janney was born 04/02/04.. and this one is due January 06

I'm 38 and a Canadian. I'm on Mountain time in summer and Central time in winter (Saskatchewan doesn't do day light savings)

I'd be willing to be a part of this as I'm considering becoming a doula, anyway, but can't realy do it right now with the new little one.

Anyway, my 1st was a hosp. birth (16 hours labor) with all the trimmings: induction, epidural (not for pain, but my way of getting the contractions to relax a bit, and obviously didn't tell nurse that was why I wanted it), threatened c-section, and ending with an episiotomy (that I specifically said they were not to do under any circumstances without getting permisssion) that ripped into a 3rd degree tear.

My 2nd was a wonderful UP/UC with a 19 hour labor. The contractions were intense, though not painful. No tearing, just a pair of skidmarks on either side.

My 3rd was another hospital birth, another induction (looooong story). Needless-to-say, not my choice, sorta forced by family members. At least no episiotomy this time. It lasted about 8 hours with back labor for the last 3 hours. Got an epidural for that, but have regretted it ever since. It took them 45 minutes to get it in, and by that time I was ready to push. There was no time to cut, as baby came barreling out on his own. No tearing, and no skids.

My 4th was the most wonderful UC ever. My dh decided that we needed to do a "natural" induction as I was nearly at 42 wks and was having a very large baby. Labor lasted about 20 hours. It was horribly painful from start to finish, but worth every bit of discomfort. Again, no tearing and no skids.

I plan on UP/UC for any and all future births. And looking forward to it.

I'd love to help too.

I have had four ups/ucs.
The first was 36 hours, 21 hours intense labor, three hours pushing, and Nici was being born with the waters intact. I prayed for mercy and they popped right away. I had a horrendous tear with Nici.
i had some small pieces of retained placenta with her and mega nursing problems.

The second was six hours and then I had retained placenta for three days. God miraculously intervened. No more tear (we THOUGHT there was no more possibility)

The third was six hours, too, and all went well, except nursing. (no tear, either)

The fourth was in Israel, at 6 am my water broke. But no real labor until 2. Labor was two hours, and Elian crawled his way out. He was a waterbirth, big baby and small placenta (which came out well and whole!), and I tore so much I called myself the grand canyon.
Other than that and the nursing problems, all went very well.
I also had a unassisted mc at eight weeks where I almost bled to death, but the Lord also intervened. He had things to teach me through all the births, I think.

Oh yeah, we're in SE PA. :)

I would love to be labor support for anyone who needs it.

My first birth was 1hr. start to finish and at the hospital.

My 2nd was at home 12 hours-mw arrived for only the last 30 minutes.

My 3rd was also a homebirth. 7 hours But when I went into labor my mw was out of town in Oregon so she sent her 19 year old dd just to help us so it was my friend and my dh and then mw's dd with me when I gave birth.

My 4th was a homebirth with mw. 3 1/2 hours start to finish.

My 5th was first UC, we had a mw but she lived and hour away and I had 30 minutes labor start to finish. Baby was 30 minutes old by the time she arrived. It was just my dh and myself at this birth.

My 6th and 7th were twins which were taken 2 1/2 weeks early by csection because of position. If I would have attempted a vaginal birth the presenting twin would have died instantly from a broken neck and we m,ay have lost the 2nd twin too so we opted for csection.

My 8th was a UC; 3 hours labor.

My 9th is still in the womb but will be a UC in September.

I didn't tear with any of mine. :)

I would also love being a labor support person as well. As well, may also need some with this one, since it probably will be a solo birth with only the children in attendance. :) Hopefully, they will just all sleep during, like last time, until the baby cries.

My first was a dr induced Csection.
My second was in the hospital, VBAC, with a wonderful midwife like dr. 11 hours start to finish, and I was 23 days late. Except I tore because the nurses made me push too hard.
My third was also in the hosp, with a jerk of a dr, 59 min from the time my water broke, she came out quickly. I was 10 days late. No tears
My fourth was a UC with OB backup. And we naturally induced, was a terrible 19 hours from the time my water broke, but better then a section. I transferred because we freaked over the placenta. No tears.
My fifth was a UP from 30 weeks, went UC at nearly 44 weeks, and he was a perfect waterbirth, and we stayed home just fine. No tears, but boy was he a big one.
This one is due near Christmas, but I will be lucky if we make the 31st cutoff like I barely did with my last ds.

I'm available ... happy to pray and encourage and support anyone! :)

I'm Sherry ... am currently pregnant with my 5th baby (second unassisted pregnancy/birth) ... my 4th baby was born after an uneventful UP/UC in June 2003.

I'm on the East Coast if that makes a difference!

I would love to be a source of comfort and prayer to any mom.

1. Ds, 43 wks., mw homebirth, dropped my OB after 4 mos. due to dismal csec and episiotomy rate. Standing birth, no tears, 11 hour labor, amniotic "gel" instead of fluid, no problems. Postpartum herbs, methergine. Didn't get the hang of nursing, weaned too soon. Severe PPD.

2. Dd, 40 wks., mw homebirth, standing birth, no tears, 12 hour labor, short cord--had to cut it to nurse. Weaned too soon. Severe PPD. God and supportive dh saw us through. Methergine and Pitocin pp.

3. Dd, 41 wks., standing homebirth, 10 hour labor, UP/UC (technically??) but asked a question of mw over the phone when I saw drops of blood just before crowning (!)--turned out nothing of concern. Cord wrapped around neck twice but dh had me ease off pushing so he could get some slack on the cord and unwrap it, very long cord. Placenta took 1.5 hours. Pit pp. Exclusively breastfed for a whole year, yay! Mild PPD.

4. Ds, 43 wks., UP/mw homebirth, water broke 24 hours before labor. 9 hour labor. No tears. Would have been a standing birth, but birthed on the bed for my mw's sake--somewhat uncomfy! Pit pp. Nursed for a year. Severe PPD.

5. Ds, 41 wks., mw homebirth, standing birth, stalled labor two weeks before birth. "Actual" labor 8 hours. Evening primrose oil, membrane sweep, small tear that healed well, nothing pp, no Pit! Largest baby, over 9 lbs. Debilitating SI joint dysfunction final trimester improved pp. "Blues," but no PPD! Nursed for 8 months.

6. Dd, 41 wks., standing UC with friend and dh, who woke up for the birth. 11 hour labor. No tears. Shepherds purse pp. Temporary debilitating SI join dysfunction pp. Needed walker, but didn't have one. Went to phys. therapist. Got better in 3 mos. "Baby blues" for two weeks and no PPD. Nursed for a year. Praise God!
