I have struggled at least a couple months now over how to say what I am about to. Hopefully the words I've finally been given will be clear and not cause confusion.
The "Faith" forum was taken down some time ago and that there was a reason for that. CUC is the place where Christians can acknowledge God without fear of being flamed, but it is not the place for discussion of doctrinal issues. Period.
Certainly at Christian UC our faith in God will be talked about as it is an integral part of most of everything in our lives. However, discussing the merits of the facets of our (and particularly each other's) faith is not what this place is for. This is a public forum and while many on the nightly news in America clearly differ with my position, I do believe we do ourselves a disservice to hash out such personal, and frequently divisive, matters publicly. And while I can't guarantee God's position on the matter, I do know this is not what he has called us to here.
I feel I must note that this has nothing to do with any particular person or thread. As I said- it's been bothering me for several months now and then struggled with how to not sound like I was banning God from the place lol. God and acknowledgment of him are most welcome! Divisiveness is not.
There are no hard-and-fast rules. Generally you know whether you're starting (or replying to) something about faith, or starting (or replying to) something about which faith is a part. For those who are feeling that they need a bit more clarity-
On-topic would be that you have chosen UC because of your faith. That you meditated to Scripture during labor. Scripture related to birth, breastfeeding, or parenting -- in the appropriate subforums. Mentioning prayer, church, Scripture.
Off-topic would be doctrinal issues, discussions of how you practice your faith when it is not directly related to birth, debate about doctrine.
We work very hard to keep this a place that is positive and uplifting for everyone. We ask that you please post accordingly.
Thank you!
