I just recently started going to see the chiro hoping to prevent another severe separation of my pubic bone. This happened with my last pg. I actually felt it and thought my pelvis had broken when baby engaged! It was painful to say the least! Then at about 7 weeks pp I began seeing a chiro and when her treatment wasn't doing anything she had me get an xray in which we discovered that I had a severe pubic bone separation. Finally I knew why the actual birth was so painful and what happened when I thought my pelvis broke at about 36 weeks. And why after the birth I could barely walk or move for a l-o-n-g time. She treated me until July 08 when we moved from PA to here in IN.
So fast forward to the present where I am seeing a new chiro. I wanted to see a female but all that the insurance I have will cover is this one chiro. He began treating me without looking at my xrays or reading my records. My 2nd appt. he still had not read my records. He doesn't listen to me at all and I am so frustrated. I have told him things over and over but he says..uh huh and yep while he writes notes etc.. Not notes about what I am saying mind you just notes about what he's doing and going to do etc..
I came home last Friday evening and just cried and vented to my dh about how stupid this chiro makes me feel and that he WILL NOT listen to me. He even asked me to bring in my prenatals so he could make sure I am taking enough of what I need. I know exactly what I need and the vitmains and minerals he wants me to take I am already taking. This isn't my first merry go round!! GEESH! I tried to tell him this but once again he just will not listen!
I go again on Thursday-tomorrow..UGH!!

check those in the area, try seeing if you file with your ins maybe they'll cover somewhere else! or prepare to pay full price. or, do what we do...offer services in exchange. my hubby builds and fixes for our chiro...and they treat us. we have TONS of credit now! lol.

Well, yesterday I went to the chiro and am pleased to let you all know that it went well! He listened and I asked him about the xray and we went over it together. Finally he listened!
I know spd happens because of the relaxin and I will continue to have this spd to some degree but being treated by the chiro while pg, wearing a good supportive belly band when I get bigger and then being treated again after the baby is born will make a difference. My concern is without the chiro care, belly band (which thank goodness I have 3 to choose from) and then pp care I would be worse off and the pubic bone separation could be worse.
Relaxin does play a part in it but also moms of many; grand multipara's and women who birth big babies also experience it more often or have a greater risk of it.. My last baby was 10.5lb so I am hoping for a smaller baby this time. Also birthing positions also make a big difference so I am going to do my best to birth in a position that is best for my pelvis. Laying on your back as some drs in hospitals have you do is the absolute worse way to birth for women who have problems with spd.. Sad
TY for the info and wisdom. I hope he continues to listen and things go well!
