starting some topics... it's quiet in here!

I know just about all of us are interested in using God given natural remedies that He provided, and I've found that as I have a family things come up and I figure out 'natural remedies' as they come. I'm sure you do too; what have you been looking into lately?

We've been fascinated with gut health lately. I'm amazed (though it shouldn't surprise me!) at how much the bacteria that reside inside the gut affect in our bodies! Bad ones that populate the gut can give off toxins, which affect the brain. Not having enough good bacteria allow un-broken-down nutrients through (think undigested milk = milk allergy). The good bacteria help us to absorb nutrients from the food as well. Fascinating stuff!

What have others been learning? Just curious!

I am, of course, learning all things reproductive as we try to embrace the infertility journey that we are on.

We are also making an assessment of the effects of Radon on people and animals. We recently discovered the Radon where we are staying.
We are sad that we have lived in a high radon home for 2 1/2 years and did not make a clear connection of symptoms until recently.
Let's just say a lot of health mysteries now make sense.

I really like learning about the body and God's perfect plan for caring for it.

Funny you should ask. I am studying EFT, which Dr. Mercola recommends and has been doing so for quite some time. There is a practitioner in my area and I've been watching his videos quite a bit. He was going for a degree in some kind of Christian studies so I find that while I may not agree with all that he presents, I can relate to him pretty well.

If anyone is interested, you can see a general overview here:

EFT Video

There is a free manual there. I have been watching the videos from this site on youtube FasterEFT.com

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique btw.

I am reading a book about metal toxicity ( this has helped me see I needed to cut out the fish in my diet while pregnant) and I just picked up books from the library on sugar sensitivities.

I know most of you are well aware of what sugars can do to our bodies if we are sensitive to them or go overboard.
I do know some but want to embed it into my thinking so I can be more proactive against exposure.

However, I more recently came across what seems to be the special blessing of info that God has sent me to read and think on through an authors extensive research.
http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/0684850141
I was able to find her 4 books through my library inter exchange so am getting the reads free.

I also appreciated watching some of the you tube vids on sugar that Sombra recommended I'd like to finish that series
Most of all I am trying to inform my husband.
Who has been very sugar addicted most of his life. I'd broke mine before marrying and then kinda got pulled back in over the course of our marriage. For me the last year or so has been bad because we had to use so much white flours etc... money wise.
On top of that my hormonal changes as I age... not a good mix!

The bright side is that my extra knowledge has helped my husband a lot! And I think eventually he will be more proactive to helping himself -he has made many strides!

I am learning to show him that chocolate and sugar etc... is NOT LOVE.

Infertility... I'm not sure what you've looked into, but I just read Real Food for Mother and Baby and they talk about traditional fertility diets in there.

Interesting things! I'm going to have to look into that EFT, just to read about it!

Sombra, I'm sorry that you're still having trouble with the BP and miscarriages.

Chocolate and sugar is not love- but Beeswax candles are ;) That's what hubby switched to buying me when I was on GAPS. I love them, but they're pricey!

Hey Cara,
Thanks for sharing. I had looked into fertility diets. Good news for me is that our diet already meets the basic program. I am currently wanting to add more specific foods though. I recently signed up for a forum called The Natural Fertility Community. They promote a cleansing/building system similar to what I am doing. I get newsletters from them also and there was a recipe for yam burgers. It actually sounds good. I am going to try to make them tomorrow.Posted Image

Also I am happy to report that I am 2 days into my second cycle after starting my cleanse and I still do not need anything for pain. In fact, yesterday was completely pain free.Posted Image

I have also rediscovered the benefits of castor oil (thanks to the natural fertility site) and I think it will be a blessing to DH and myself. There are quite a few uses especially helpful to healing issues that effect fertility. I am coming up with my own list too. I put it on a newly developing cold sore last week and the castor oil stopped it from continuing to form. I used it for a couple days just to be sure it did not come back.

Hello all you lovely ladies! *Waves, and slips back into lurkdom*
