DH was not comfortable with UP or UC so I submitted to his role as leader and started looking for provider that would honor my desires for our birth. The search has been long and anxiety producing. I finally found a midwife that agreed to take me despite my previous history of diabetes. I have been monitoring my blood sugar and all was well.
As hubby and I were praying for direction on preparing the financial aspects to allow us to us the homebirth midwife things took another turn away from homebirth. Now my blood sugar is high. I seems like out of the blue but as I hit the 16th week my numbers started going high with out any change in my diet that had been working well for me.
So now I am looking for a practice with midwifery and medicine. And another wrench in the works.... we lost our insurance. So now I am trying to get approved for medicaid and delaying starting with a provider until it is sorted out as we have no resources right now to self pay. In fact money is so tight we are having to decide if we pay rent or buy groceries.
Needless to say prayers are appreciated. I am angry that my blood sugar is high. I am worried about the problems that can cause for me and for the baby. It is scary to be in this position and the finacial aspect is worrisome and embarassing as well.
However I am blessed and I am thankful...
- I received a free ultrasound yesterday at a local pregnancy care place. They showed us that our baby is moving and has a strong heartbeat. They even graciously printed several pictures for us including a bottom shot. They are not allowed to tell you the sex of the baby. With our other 2 children we did not want to know until birth however the kids really want to know what the baby's name is and if it is a boy or a girl. After comparing our pictures to many pictures online we are sure those are boy parts :)
I still cry to think of the compassion at that place and their dedication to helping women in some of the toughest times. - God has provided food in a variety of unexpected ways.
- The online application for medicaid suggested that we apply for food assistance also- that is something that I had not thought of so I am thankful for the suggestion and praying that we get approval.
- The group that we are looking to go to comes highly reccommended. They are 40 mins from home but I would be more comfortable at that hospital than our local. And they have more midwives than doctors. The midwives can even help you birth with "high risk" things like diabetes.
- And I am having another son! How much more blessed can one be.
Thanks for listening. Prayers are much appreciated.
