Hello all! i havent been around in a while but, my 7 almost 8 month old son has the chicken pox. He has sores on his tummy and one pox on his wrist and leg. No fever or anything yet. I was wondering if you women had any ideas what I could do to help the itching. His sores are big and painful looking. poor little guy. Also if his body does start a fever what are some natural things i could use to bring it down...

Cornstarch or oatmeal baths can help with the itching and there is no need to bring the fever down. Fevers are the body's way of fighting the infection and will not cause any harm.

Lukewarm baths with finely ground oatmeal... if he gets the pox under his foreskin it may help to have him urinate in tepid water covering ...been there with my little boy a few years ago when my tribe came down with the pox. Fever is okay ...it is a normal, good thing as his body builds immunity. Try to keep his nails trimmed short and you can use socks for hand mits (may need to duct tape on) if it gets too itchy. Poor lil guy ... ah well...he will be immune now! :flowers:

Wow. How did he get it so early? Did you know that they normally don't hold the immunity to it until after the age of two? Keep in mind that he could get it again when he's older.

I hope that he heals soon and isn't too uncomfortable. Poor baby!

When my kidlets got them (all 4 at once) and the baby got it last and also the worst I think. I think she was around 16-18 months old at the time. I really hope she holds the immunity but I am prepared...we have a couple kids now who will need immunity who weren't born yet anyways. I was really suprised she got it so bad b/c she was breastfeeding, etc. but eh.. one of those things, I guess.

He may not feel the itching.. many little ones don't even notice chicken pox..

let a fever go..it's doing the work it's supposed to do, kill the infection..

hugs

i have read that epsom salts bath work wonders too! not only do they resolve itching but help draw the infection out.

NONE of my kids have had the CP yet.

Courtney, I hope he holds the immunity also. NONE of my kids have had it and Leighanne is now almost 14 (next month) so I hope she never gets exposed.

I hope he is over it by now.

his sores are still healing, but i noticed today he has a few more blisters. It's been two weeks today since I noticed the first sore. I figured it should be over by now. Starting the 2nd his fever spiked and was feverish and sleepy. By monday his fever broke but he is still getting blisters? Any idea how much longer he got?

it's not mosquito bites?

Courtney, I have had, 5 times now, in the last 6 months, a strange rash.. It's very like little blisters on my body, but on my face it's like sandpaper, and very itchy. I have yet to figure out what it is, or the cause.. but A friend in Texas, her daughter got the same rash - and then a woman here, who assumed it was an allergy to a medication and went off the meds, went on antibiotics and antihistamines... I tried the antibiotics, it didn't work.. that was the first time, I have never been back to inquire again.. I also thought it might be my body trying to detox.. but that doesn't fit every time I've had it.

the rash on the face you can't really see, it feels like sandpaper and get swollen looking..

it does not make sense that the chicken pox are still producing pustules 2 weeks later.

I've read that it could take up to 20 days for the body to stop producing blisters. He hasn't been on any medication or in any environment that is abnormal. I honestly don't know whats up with him. He seems to be getting better day by day. Still really whiny and clingy, but he is also getting another tooth. Also, my milk production has sky rocketed. Ive woke up full to the brim, which is odd. Any ideas why? He hasnt nursed any differently.
