We did it... It's a...

BOY!!!!!!

His name is Johnathan Christopher. Born August 28 at 12:12 am. He weighs about 6.3 and is 19 3/4 in. He is doing great.

I lost my mucous plug Wednesday morning but didn't have any contractions until later. My water broke at 7:23 pm while I was napping, I heard and felt a pop and then felt the fluids and then around 7:40 I started having regular non painful contractions. I tried to get a hold of Ron at work but no one answered for about an hour. I called my mom but she was at church and my sister (my picture taker) was with her. So I finally got a hold of my dad and he called my mom for me on her cell. I also called my sister-in-law (SIL) to find my mother-in-law (MIL) so she could try calling DH so my phone line wasn’t tied up but they just ended up coming over. So my mom ended up getting a hold of DH and he came home. I had a house full of people than weren't supposed to be here (my mom, MIL, SIL and youngest sister- 3 years) but I wasn't too bugged since I wasn't having pain yet. I figured when the pain came I would go hide in the bedroom.

So my MIL and SIL went home to eat and my contractions got worse at around 11:00. My mom wanted to time them for a while (just to have something to do, I think). They were really close and long so I wanted to get in the tub. DH got it ready and I got in at around 11:30. The contractions were really getting intense and I could not breathe through them. I changed positions a few times in the tub and ended up staying in a squatting/kneeling position most of the time. The pain was getting close to unbearable and I was saying things like "NO", and making noises because I could no longer contain them. The only relief was giving little pushes when there was NOTHING else I could do to help ease them. I thought I was losing it when I started vomiting but then I remembered this means I am close so I felt for the baby's head and it was only about 1-2" inches up so I was encouraged. I knew it would not be long now. I told DH to get the camera since he ended up not letting anyone in the room the whole time I was in the tub. When he came back he pushed on my back for a few contractions and I was really hurting I cried out for GOD to help me and then I felt down and felt the head quickly emerging into my hand. When the head was out I turned a bit for more room in the tub and the body came out fast. He was born underwater and I pull him out and let him drain out on his side while I rubbed his back. I saw that it was a boy and I was a bit surprised. He didn't cry right away and he was a quite purple but he was breathing a little. Dh got worried about his color and everyone else came in the room. He wanted me to suction a bit so I did a little. He started to pinken up pretty quick except for his hands and feet. He was breathing good but sounded as if he had a snotty nose so I sucked it out since the noise made DH nervous. I wasn't concerned about anything because the cord was still attached and he was now breathing and pinkening up good but I didn't want DH to be uneasy and only remember this part of the delivery. It seemed like a long time to DH but all of this happened within about 2-3 minutes.

After a few minutes in the tub we got out and went to the bed to get warm. He was very alert and looked at you if you were talking to him. he could also hold up his head and try to look around. He wasn't very interested in nursing, he was too busy looking around. After the cord stopped pulsating and was white we tied and cut it so I could get up and deliver the placenta since I was having pretty bad afterpains. I went to the bathroom and squatted over a bowl and it came out on its own. I hardly had any blood loss.

After we just snuggled in bed he stayed awake for about 4 hours. This was a wonderful experience and I am so happy GOD gave me a wonderful birth and new baby boy.
